Volunteers needed for Tweetup & Bake Sale: August 29

pink-fire

In early June 2009, @freeryan’s home in Juneau burned down as a result of an intentionally-set fire in his neighbor’s house. Their home and all possessions were completely destroyed. Since then, he’s been battling his insurance company and holding his young family together as the process of rebuilding their life begins.

As a friendly gesture and random act of kindness, we’re holding a combined Tweetup & Bake Sale on Saturday, August 29 to benefit Ryan Stanley’s family. (Event will be held in Anchorage.)

Here’s where you come in: we are looking for volunteers to help out with the sale. We need people to help…

  • set up the sale
  • man the sale during the day
  • break down after we’re done
  • do some advertising/sign designs
  • and, of course,  provide the baked goodies

Bella Boutique (@bella_boutique), a handcrafted jewelry and accessories shop in Anchorage, has graciously offered to host the sale (thanks @Anniepants!) and more information will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date.

If you are interested in helping out, tweet a message to @Valette or send e-mail to bakesale@alaskatweets.com.

In the mean time, you can learn more about @freeryan‘s unfortunate lesson in destruction and renewal here:

I can help setup and/or man the bake sale for part of the day on the 29th.

Thanks Karen! I’ll pass your comment on to @Valette, who’s organizing. Looks like this will be a fun — and community-building — event!
