Summer’s not over yet, but as fall approaches, our thoughts are turning to more social media events in Alaska.
For example, I was recently asked whether Ignite Anchorage would be happening again this fall. The first one was back on May 7. Apparently the answer is “yes” another one is coming. Right now @jdfrankl is thinking about it, considering venue options and hoping to organize a small committee of folks willing to build the next event. I’d say stay tuned to the Ignite Anchorage web site and Alaska Tweets for updates. Or contact @jdfrankl directly to offer your ideas and help.
Meanwhile, the quick July 31 FRIDAY FLOCK Tweetup at the Snow Goose was fun! Be sure to check out the photos and the list of attendees, in case you’re looking for new Anchorage folks to follow.
Finally, the August 15 Tweetup & House Concert is coming up in less than two weeks, featuring @mariancall. This one looks like a winner, or at least you folks out there feel that way! We opened registration for the limited-attendance event in the wee hours of July 27 and sold out in less than 24 hours. We have both core tickets and a wait list, and even the wait list is filling up.
This experimental event features a social Tweetup, food, drink, BYOB, music, Nintendo Wii on the big screen plus framed art and photography from your Alaska Twitter pals and beyond. The art is both for display and, where marked, for sale. But the event’s headliner is Marian Call, local singer-songwriter with an international following. She’s a huge fan of the intimate and personal house concert mode of performance, and that’s what we’ll enjoy.
I’m beginning to wonder if we need a small group that can develop, organize and host more social media events in the coming months. If you’d like to participate, just comment on this post or drop a line to @jmproffitt.
