Tweetup & Concert: Sat, Aug 15

As summer winds down and the termination dust approaches, it’s once again time for the Alaska Twitterati to get together in real life. Let’s celebrate a great summer with great food, live music, local art and friends both old and new.

Here are the details:

• Saturday, August 15
• 6:00 – 11:00pm
• Undisclosed location in Anchorage (!)
• Food (heavy hors d’oeuvres, snacks, desserts), wine + BYOB
• Intimate live house concert by Anchorage’s own Marian Call | @mariancall starting at 7:45pm
• Art & photography by selected Anchorage artists
• Challenge old and new friends in Nintendo Wii battles
• Free WiFi Internet for live Tweeting (but of course!)
• Hosted by @jmproffitt and @AgentIceCream
• Due to the presence of alcohol, we’re asking all attendees be 21 or older
• Everyone is welcome, but all attendees must sign up

Undisclosed Location

We want to control the size of the event, so we’re only sharing the location with folks that register for the event, and we’re only sharing it the day of the Tweetup & Concert. We’re also capping total attendance at 45. Plus Dick Cheney told us to keep it quiet.

House Concert

A house concert is just a house party, like any other, with food, drink, friends, but with live music as part of the entertainment. This house concert will feature Anchorage singer-songwriter Marian Call (web | twitter | facebook | myspace). Her music is acoustic, humorous, eclectic and a little funky. The concert is free, though there is a recommended artist donation of $10 per person. Come raise a glass and try something new! A good time is guaranteed.

The Tweetup event begins at 6:00pm. We’re expecting Marian Call to take center stage around 7:45pm.

Art & Photography

We’re working to collect some visual art and photography for display throughout the Tweetup & Concert venue. Art may even been for sale at the event. This is the part we’re still working on at this point. If you’ve got art or photography you’d like to share, be sure to contact @jmproffitt.

Whether you’re a Twitter fan, a Marian Call fan, both or just plain curious about a piece of the social media in Anchorage, be sure to sign up right away. Attendance is limited and the location info only goes to signed up folks. Remember: the event is free, but we do ask for a $10/person artist donation for Marian. Plus, bring your own alcohol if you’ve got a favorite brand.
