It’s not a Tweetup — it’s better.
If you’re in Anchorage and you haven’t yet registered to attend the very first Ignite Anchorage, get registered now and plan to be at the Aviation History Museum (on Lake Hood) from 6-10pm on Thursday, May 7.
What is Ignite? Well, it’s hard to explain in just a few words. But basically it’s an event with food, beer, friendly geeks, a game and several 5-minute presentations on topics as wide-ranging as e-mail management, travel deals, flying, social media, organic gardening, journalistic media and crime (how to succeed at).
Presentations sound boring? Really? Well, these are all 5 minutes, all of them have exactly 20 slides, and the slides auto-advance every 15 seconds. So they aren’t just interesting presentations — actually making the presentation itself is a bit of a game, involving careful timing and absolute brevity.
For more on this particular event and to learn about what Ignite is all around the world, be sure to visit igniteanchorage.com right away. And don’t forget to register.
Lots of Twitter folks will be there, of course, so it’s almost like a Tweetup with fun little presentations.
