Two articles on Twitter — and one specifically focused on the April 5 Tweetup in Anchorage — appeared in Alaska print outlets this week. You can read them online here…
Short Stories
DeGeorge uses this week’s earthquake and events surrounding the AVO as a jumping-off point to take a look at Twitter and consider the implications of instant short-form media in journalism and beyond. You might also be interested in a link to a New Yorker article he shared with me: Twilight of the Books: What will life be like if people stop reading? That’s a long-form article, to be sure, and it illustrates a form of writing that Twitter can’t support (of course) and even blogging oftentimes doesn’t produce. Hopefully we’ll get DeGeorge to attend a future social media event (hint, hint!).
‘Tweetups’ gaining momentum for networking in person
Stapleton, a photographer and reporter, attended this weeks’ Tweetup and wrote up the experience, including several details about @sdoownek‘s appearance on behalf of @alaska_avo.

There’s a possibility of a third article coming soon, mostly focused on the AVO, but including discussion of Twitter. Kyle Hopkins — @adnvillage — has been working on a story. I’ll post a link here if it’s published.
